Given I’ve been on and off in the dating world for near on….(my memory conveniently fails me), let’s say a long time, I find when talking about the men that waft or stomp into my life, it’s easiest to pop them in a convenient category that my friends will immediately understand. “oh yeah, I’ve had one of those…”. So girls, how about the ‘double ringer’ guy?
Although the ‘double ring guy’ is sadly quite common, he’s also a massive worry! Because no matter how divine he initially may have seemed, when the guy does the old ring once, hang up and not leave a message, his currency already takes a knock. Why call, and not leave a message? Am I supposed to call back? Was it an accidental call? So then, in a time frame that would fall under the banner of, straight after (IE, SAME DAY), his number pops up again, and once again he doesn’t leave a message. Now, I realise that ‘yes’ it was indeed me that he’s after, but AGAIN no message. So there are two outrageous moves being made here by the ‘double ring dude’. Firstly, leaving no message is just plain annoying, so he has annoying on his CV, and potentially ‘tight ass’ as perhaps he doesn’t want to spend the money on leaving a message. And then, the most devaluing move he could ever make (along the lines of having a rave on your front lawn while trying to sell you house on open for inspection day), is that rather than wait for me to get back to his half baked attempt, he then throws pride out the window by calling me back, rather than waiting and allowing me to continue my life with things on my ‘to do’ list. Not only that, but it screams of social disabilities, and neediness. “Where are you and why aren’t you calling me back in the time frame I want to talk to you in?” Sorry buddie, not only are you not going to get a gig with me, but you’re now going to be assigned to 600 hours community service for being such a drip.
Anyway, that’s just one example as most of us have copped the ‘double ringer’ from time to time; in fact, some of us even married them. How’s that going for you? Accounting for your whereabouts much?
