I have to say I’ve tossed up as to whether to mention the ‘dikileaks’ scandal this week as I’m inclined to think the whole thing has had far too much air time, but as I’m still out there being asked about my interview on 5AA with the 17 year old in question, I thought perhaps I’d put my thoughts finally to rest.
So, middle of last week as the whole sordid scandal was still unfolding, I was informed as I was about to go to air that surprise, surprise, the girl responsible for the biggest catalogue of shots of footy players with their dacks down, was yet again, available for a chat.
Now, given I believe that if we are to treat this girl like a ‘minor’, then none of the other 30 adult journo’s (mostly male) should have ever allowed her on air. Especially if they weren’t going to ask the adult questions.
“So how many of these footballers have you had sex with?” Yes, straight to the point and perhaps questionable to ask a girl of that age, but I felt important to ask in order to gauge where her revenge had spawned. And as she had gone to such lengths to PR herself in a sex scandal, then how on earth do you interview one of the starring roles, without asking about sex?
After all, we’re giving her the power to tell her story, then we should make sure it’s being told right. And not a 17 year olds version, that doesn’t completely make sense.
The final count, according to her was three! All three had taken place over a period of a few months. Call me cynical, but is a theme not taking shape?
The first a one night stand. The next, in her eyes anyway, a brief relationship, which appeared to unfortunately end in a pregnancy. And the next cab of the rank, a third guy, which may have been her first stab at revenge.
No doubt an extremely frightening and traumatizing result, that one liaison had resulted in her carrying twins, but as surely we all know, if we’re not careful and considered about having sex, then babies sometimes appear.
Apparently when calls were not returned and ownership not taken over her cries of ‘our babies’, which she subsequesntly lost, the girl got questionably angry.
But whether this anger is fair, when the second guy in question perhaps doesn’t put his hand up and immediately buy her story – not forgetting, he was second in a short term queue, then although not quite ideal, not the first story of it’s kind.
I asked her if she really felt that she had been used considering she’d posted yet another YouTube video admitting what she’d liked about the footy boys was “money, fame and power”?
I mean, yes the girl lacks experience when it comes to ‘life game’, but using is using, and it takes two to do dance the shallow tango.
And as far as I’m concerned, there are clearly many players, her included as one, that have behaved in such a way that it should have stayed behind closed doors.
The way she has behaved, by posting the photos and threatening to post others, of guys that weren’t the ‘chosen three’, is just out right bullying. There is no such thing as an innocent bully.
So with as much empathy as I could muster, and yes, I’ll admit I found it tough, I enquired as to whether she had thought whether her ‘revenge story’ was something she was going to want to have on her CV 5, 10 years or so down the track?
Maybe when she’s finally met a ‘good one’ or has a kid of her own, does she still want to wear the revenge crown still then? “I haven’t really thought about that!” And when I explained that’s precisely why I asked her. She replied, “this isn’t really going anywhere.”
To which I agreed, it’s really not. Not for you, certainly NOT in the long run.
