On Sunday 7 August, Amber Petty interviewed Miss Psychette on Melbourne Talk Radio (1377AM) about the week’s hottest topic: The 27 Club. More than three dozen musicians who all died at the age of 27 are typically referred to as The 27s, The 27 Club, and sometimes The Forever 27 Club. The biggest names of the bunch are Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse and Brian Jones (the Rolling Stones). There’s even a website and a book devoted to all this. Funnily enough, I don’t think there’s a deeper synchronicity or spiritual explanation here; I’m actually pretty sure it’s a coincidence! I found it hard to channel on the topic, receiving only the following messages: “They all had nowhere else to go. Some of their early deaths were ‘accidents’ — not part of the soul contract (eg. Possibly Brian? Janis?). People have formed a ‘Club 27’ because they love the mystique of it… intrigue.”
I do think, however, it’s fascinating that in numerology, 2+7 = 9… the number of completion, attainment and fulfillment, when things come full circle. Indeed, even the visual depiction of the Arabic “9″ spirals in on itself to indicate the completion of a cycle. Nine is also linked to the planet Neptune, which rules the oppressed and abandoned: the misfits of society (Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, anyone?!) As for meeting an untimely death under ‘9’ energy, well, there’s certainly people who view the number as bad news! The Pythagoreans thought of nine as unlucky as it is one short of ten, and in Japan, the pronounciation of the number nine sounds like the word for “pain”.
In Tarot, the ninth card is The Hermit — symbolising “A desire for peace and solitude. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent during this time of withdrawal.” This kind of makes me think about celebrities so surrounded by fame that they’re literally alone in their own little world (hermitage!) Also, tarot cards traditionally depict The Hermit standing upon a mountain, representing achievement, growth, and accomplishment… i.e., The Hermit has achieved his goal. A good time to say farewell and depart the earth, non?
WHAT ARE YOU THOUGHTS? ARE YOU FAN OF NUMEROLOGY? I AM….
